Peggy Duvall

A resident of Millwood VA USA, at the top of the Shenandoah Valley, Peggy is a lifelong painter in a family of creatives with lengthy career in architectural design and building. Her design background together with a deep connection to the rural Virginia landscape and all things floral have had an outsize contribution to who she is as an artist.

She appreciates watercolor and it’s unpredictable nature. The paint is her partner as it interacts with the texture of the paper, gently guiding her work in a natural and organic way. She prefers to use thick cotton papers and deeply values the fact that they come from plants, which significantly influences both her artistic process and the outcome of her paintings.

Her work has been shown regionally at The Museum of the Shenandoah Valley, Long Branch House & Farm galleries, The Barns of Rose Hill, AIM gallery in Middleburg, Dwell Fine Art & Craft, Melissa Ichiuji Gallery and Art & Fiber Gallery in Blacksburg, VA. Her work is in homes across Virginia and the USA.

Peggy’s paintings aspire to reflect upon the natural world and on humanity’s place within that natural world. Her paintings represents a constant give and take between nature and intellect. They exploit flaws and inconsistencies aspiring to beauty and control.
